Blogging 101: Make a Prompt Personal

Standard

Today’s assignment: publish a post based on your own, personalized take on a Daily Prompt.

“Tell us about the last experience you had that left you feeling fresh, energized, and rejuvenated. What was it that had such a positive effect on you?”

The last time I felt fresh, energized, and rejuvenated is when I went hiking at Hanging Rock State Park in Danville, NC. It is located about 45 min from us, in a small mountain chain called the Sauratown mountains named after a Native American tribe that lived there. It has gorgeous hiking trails, waterfalls, a lake, and a cave. We have camped there several times and felted so relaxed and refreshed afterwards. I feel so spiritual and connected when I’m in the woods. Especially on this cliff looking out over the North Carolina countryside. Taking in the fresh air, sky, trees, wildlife, while sharing it with someone I love, nothing can compare.

Blogging 101: Be a Good Neighbor

Standard

Add a post to your own blog today highlighting and linking to the four blogs. Let your readers know why they intrigued you. Links are the lifeblood of the blogosphere; every time you link to something you love, you strengthen the fabric of the blogging community. Sharing great links with your readers also helps them see you as a trusted resource.

MyMiaCreations inspired me with her gorgeous Seascape pictures. I felt calmer just looking at them. I appreciate a calm moment with a one year old. 🙂

architarai liked my post today and I visited her blog and found some lovely inspiring poetry.

A Writer’s Journey posted a stunning Natural gateway and writes about sacred space. Very inspiring!

Winging It posted some perfect travel songs. Mumford and Sons and City & Colour are two of my favorite bands!

Blogging 101 and a Poll

Standard

Ok, this Blogging 101 Assignment has me pulling my hair out lol, it will absolutely torcher me until I figure it out. I am still getting used to the blogging language therefore it took me 2 hrs and a post on the Commons to figure out how to add a text widget lol —-> see the Moi widget. I also created the top posts widget which makes me proud 🙂

Now I am tackling the create a header assignment. I’ve wrestled with Pic Monkey awhile and came up with this:

sunrise header

which I love, however then I see the pixel requirements, so it morphed into cropped-sunrise-headersmall.png:

which looks a little stretched and doesn’t fit the colors of my theme, so I will have to rethink if I want this theme, but I do love it. Any thoughts?

Blogging 101: Write to Your Dream Reader

Standard

Today’s Assignment: publish a post for your dream reader, and include a new-to-you element in it.”

My dream reader would be a hero novelist of mine, Cleo Coyle. You are an inspiration with your riveting writing, your recipes included in the novels, and I just discovered you have created trailers for your books.

Ms. Coyle, I am writing to you about my new novel. I would love to have your honest feedback on my work. I see that you are self published and I would be grateful for any advice on this venture.

Another addition is my current favorite song. Embedding is fun!

Blogging 101: Love Your Theme

Standard

I am so freaking excited about my new theme!!! I tried out several and this fits me perfectly. It’s wild and colorful and I love it 🙂 Thanks for this challenge! What do you think?

Today’s assignment: try out at least three other themes — even if you’re happy with the one you first chose. Try one you’re drawn to, and one you would never use.

Quote

I did follow 5 new blogs and 5 new topics including B&W, iphoneography, Nature, Animals, Trees and also responded to the prompt below 🙂

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Oasis.”

“A sanctuary is a place you can escape to, to catch your breath and remember who you are. Write about the place you go to when everything is a bit too much”

My oasis is the woods, whenever I am stressed and overwhelmed I can walk into the forest and I feel renewed.
